Vaqara na Tamata - 26 Aug 2018
Good Afternoon!
This past week has been great! My companion and I have been grinding! We ended this week with 22 new people (investigators) and have made heaps of progression in the area.
We were supposed to have Lo's baptism this past weekend but she sort of ran away. We feel that she was nervous about the baptism due to some contention with her mom regarding the matter.
I've never really talked about Lo to you all but i'll give a little update. Lo is 24 and she stays with her mom and 3 year old daughter. She has been taking lessons for a while and the past couple weeks we have been trying to prepare her for baptism. She had a baptismal interview a week before Elder Meeves and I got here but her Mom shut it down. Lo has a deep testimony and knows everything we teach is true. She is just letting her mom influence her decisions too much. That is why we believe she disappeared this past weekend. However, after a long sit down with her mom and some bold speaking we were able to find some middle ground. We will go back to see Lo this week and hopefully figure out whats truly on her mind.
We have been visiting so many families lately. I have never been so busy in my mission. I barely have time for anything nowadays. I really rely on P-Day to get a lot of things done.
A big miracle this past week.
We were out late trying to locate some less active families from our ward. We had trouble finding this one house in a settlement. One kid saw and asked if he could help us find the family. We later found ourselves outside the house of the thought to be "Caudre" family. It was pretty late so we just wanted to say hi and get a return appointment. The family came to the door and greeted us warmly as if they had been expecting us. Two days later we went back to the family and had a great time. After some conversation we found out the wife actually wasn't a member, but assuming the Husband was a member we continued. At the end of the visit the wife, Vasemaca, said she would come to church and bring her three kids. We were still confused a bit on the Husband since we hadn't met him yet. We weren't sure if he was a member or what. Friday we went back and had some breakfast with them. After we asked some more questions we found out that the Caudre family, the less actives we initially had been looking for, live in the house in front of the people we were visiting. It was no mistake we were lead to this family. We are still taken back about how they welcomed us into there house as if they had been expecting us to come. Without a doubt, the Lord works in mysterious ways. I also just realized we still haven't contacted the actual Caudre family. Thats us this week.
We played some golf last P-Day and it was amazing! Finally found a left handed set out here and it was splendid. During our round we let one group of Fijians play through us. They asked where we were from. I said Maryland of course. (always reppin') Then one of the Fijians replied " Oh I lived in Rockville for 4 years." I was in shock! You hardly meet Fijians out here that have lived in the states let alone the east coast. He told me he lived off of Old Georgetown Road. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He told me there is a big Fijian community back in the DMV area. It got me very excited.
It was a great week. So many miracles happened this week. The story about the family is just one of many.
Hope everyone has a great week!
Much Love,
Elder Richardson
