Yadra Vinaka kemuni kece,
It has been a great week! Monday we had our zone P-Day on the beach of Natadola. Played a lot of Rugby, Frisbee, and Football. It was quite the experience. After that we all got ready for our zone dinner and had some burgers from this place called "American Burger." A little over hyped, but it was definitely nice. The next day we had our Zone Conference and that went really well. We talked about and viewed all the different ways artists depict the "Iron Rod" dream. Something so complex with such deep meaning couldn't of just been made up by any man. President Layton really took it to the next level on that subject. He also touched upon how we "need to be who we want to be now. Then develop those habits. Don't wait for it to happen and just expect it." Lastly, ATTITUDE is the key to success (learning how true that is). Learned a ton, can't wait to apply.
This week Elder Dunn and I found some great new investigators. A couple families that will be excellent additions to the Rakiraki Branch. We had some really late nights teaching and working with members this week. The life among a village is a whole other vibe come night time. Very peaceful, and when inside someones house there is a super cozy feeling. Had some suspicious seaweed for dinner the other night, "Lumi," and it was definitely like nothing I have ever had before. Was grateful to have it though.
Saturday we had a BBQ on the island of Malake. A couple members from the mainland came over to the island with Elder Dunn and I. The idea behind it was that we could strengthen the church's relationship with the locals there, and hopefully spark some interest. To our surprise the High Council men in our Branch planned a ceremony with the Chiefs of the village. They did some traditional Fijian stuff then had us, the Elders, introduces ourselves. Turns out that they had just fully opened up the island for us to proselyte in. As where before, we could only go to the house of our members there. This was HUGE, will bring so much more potential to our work. BBQ was great though, a lot of pork chops and sausage with of course some tavioka.
Eventful week out here in the islands.
Our investigator Raki, from Rotuma got baptized this weekend as well. After he came out of the river he was hysterically crying. Almost had me in tears myself seeing how much it all meant to him. Makes you take a step back and appreciate the work for what it is and does.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Love,
Elder Richardson
