Week 2 i Viti - 14 May 2017
Yadra everyone,
Happy Mothers Day! to all those whom it may concern. It has been a very interesting week out in Rakiraki. So far no ghosts. However, many new investigators. The people out here are very humble and have a deep love for their God. Its more often than not that the people we teach take upon themselves the commitment of being baptized if they come to learn the things which we teach them are true. It is very interesting to watch how it all goes down. I am usually watching as my companion does most of the talking and I try to follow along. Sometimes, instead of being rude, the people we teach just wont say anything and create a long almost awkward pause. At that point we try and follow up again but if its clear they're not wanting any of it, we close with a prayer and go on our way.
The food out here is very good. My budget has me really watching what I buy and eat. These next two weeks will be very interesting to see how I do. This past week I blew through my support money and had to use a lot of my own personal money. That hopefully wont happen again. I have definitely been making up lot of random meals from leftovers we have around the flat. Made some great fried rice the other day which I was quite proud of.
My name out here to the Fijians is "Rich" or "White House" because Richardson is just too much for them, and I tell them all I am from Washington D.C. ... Weather is very hot and humid. I am definitely adapting though, I was anticipating that I would be sweating a lot more and having trouble out here. That has not been the case though. The West, which is where I am is considered to be the hotter and drier area of Fiji. If you ask me I really can't tell the difference wherever I go. Its all humid and hot. Sorry I don't have much time to write this P-Day. I used most of the time video chatting my lovely Mother and Sister. I will have some good stuff for you all next week though, SO stay tuned.
Have a great week,
Love,
Elder Richardson
