Serve Thy Neighbor - 9 Jul 2017

Yadra Kemuni Kece,
E dua tale vinaka macawa.  Don't have that much time this week to write my update.  However things have been going well.  The work is picking up in Rakiraki and the Fijian language is coming along.  Was able to give a talk in church this past Sunday on missionary work and how every member is a missionary.  The grammar isn't second nature yet but its nice being able to deliver a powerful message with the vocabulary I currently have.
I spoke last week concerning our Branch President and how my companion and I have been trying to strengthen our relationship with him.  Usually the Missionaries are the ones being cooked food, but this week it wasn't the case.  Our Branch President was having a tough day and he told us he was hungry.  We offered to cook him some food, almost jokingly, but still sincerely to show we care for his needs.  He gladly took us up on the offer.  So we went back to the flat, and I put together my best chow noodle dish I could.  We brought it back within 30 minutes of him asking.  I think it really touched his heart and he has definitely treated us better since then.
Realized how important it is to continue to teach your converts.  We went to teach our recent convert Raki and I realized how much he hadn't fully grasped during our first set of lessons.  He had a strong faith and was willing to live the according life, but some crucial information didn't stick.  As Missionaries it is important for us to continue to help our converts grow and understand all about the Gospel.  If we had just left him in his current state of understanding it would be a long road ahead for him.  That's why we follow up and make sure they start off with a strong grip on the "Iron Rod."
I love this work and love the people I am serving.  Everyday I meet a new amazing person that puts a new perspective of life in my eyes.  I love sharing my testimony with the people of Fiji and am excited to further work on the person I want to be.  The BEST time to plant a tree was 25 years ago.  The NEXT BEST time is today.  It is NEVER too late to work on yourself and become a new and improved version of yourself.
Love you all,
Elder Richardson
